Gregory Dion Jelks 16th August 1961 to 6th January 2017

Welcome to the Greg Jelks Baseball Development Fund, a not for profit incorporated association that was established in 2017 after the sudden and unexpected passing of Australian Baseball Legend, Greg Jelks.

Greg devoted his life to Baseball from his junior days and highly successful High School and College career, to achieving his dream of playing Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1987. His MLB career was cut short through injury which ultimately led Greg to Australian shores in 1992 where he joined the Australian Baseball League with the Perth Heat where he dominated for almost a decade.

Greg has achieved many accolades and enjoyed Australian Championship success with Perth Heat, winning the Claxton Shield with Western Heelers and State League Championships with South Perth.

In 1997, Greg was part of the Australian side that won Bronze at the Baseball World Championships enjoying a stellar tournament where he was selected in the World All Stars team as Designated Hitter.

When his professional playing career ended, Greg devoted his attention to coaching having roles with the Australian National & Olympic teams, Perth Heat and spent time in the USA with coaching roles with Catskill Cougars, Duleth Superior Dukes, Evansville Otters, Slippery Rock Sliders and Washington Wild Things. He managed Evansville to the Championship in 2006.

At the time of his passing Greg was Head Coach at Carine Baseball Club in Western Australia, developing a young and inexperienced team in the WA State League.

Greg's devotion to Baseball has been incredible and the Greg Jelks Baseball Development Fund has been established to honour his contribution and continue his great efforts into the future.

Our aim is to promote and encourage the development of talent at individual and club level, providing funding for youth and support and training opportunities for the greater baseball community.

We welcome your support and participation as we work diligently to respect our great mate and provide a legacy that will live long in our hearts.
